Somerset —
Armed Forces veterans were honored at the Second Annual All Eubank High Reunion on October 8, 2011, held at the Eubank City Park.
Organizers Kathy Leigh Sams and Cline and Jenny Calhoun estimated that approximately
500 people were in attendance during the course of the day.
This is about a 150 increase from the first annual reunion in 2010, and a further increase is expected at the third annual reunion on October 6, 2012.
Three members of the American Legion Honor Guard presented a flag ceremony in which they shared the significance of the folds of the American flag before it is presented to the next of kin at military funerals.
Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem.
Recognition was also given to the oldest Eubank High School graduate present, Mrs. Georgia Bice, who now resides in Somerset, winning hands down at 100 years young.
Second was Burnice Wall, who now resides in Midway, Ky., checking in at 98 years young, having graduated in 1932.
Attendees traveled from as far away as Michigan, and points in between, to renew old acquaintances and friendships.
