LOUISVILLE —
CPT Chad Corbin became the incoming commander of the 502nd Military Intelligence Company, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team on July 29, 2011.
He is currently serving in Kabul, Afghanistan.
CPT Corbin graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and was commissioned into the Infantry branch in 2005.
Upon completing the Infantry Officer Basic Course, CPT Corbin was assigned to Charlie Company, 1-21 Infantry Battalion “Gimlets,” 2 SBCT, 25th ID, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, serving as a Stryker rifle platoon leader for 30 months.
He then served as the Assistant S2 for HHC, 1-21 IN “Gimlets.” He was then reassigned to HHC, 3-4 Infantry Battalion, Baumholder, Germany, as the Battalion S2.
He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Advance Course, Ranger School, Basic Airborne course and the Army Combatives School.
CPT Corbin’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (3 BOLC Clusters), National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Valorous Unit Award, Overseas Service Ribbon (bronze 2) and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
He is authorized to wear the Ranger Tab, Combat Infantrymen’s Badge, Expert Infantrymen’s Badge and the Army Parachutist Badge.
CPT Corbin has deployed in support of OIF 07-09 where he served as a rifle platoon leader and battalion assistant S-2. He has recently served with TF 3-4 IN in support of NATO training mission Afghanistan in Kabul as the battalion S-2.
CPT Corbin is married to Carolyn Schlicht Corbin from San Diego, Calif.
Parents, David and Renae Corbin; sister and fiancé, Sarah Corbin and Kyle Turpen; and grandparents, Jack and Lucille Corbin, reside in Pulaski County.
CPT Corbin’s family would like to say thank you to all servicemen and women for their sacrifices and dedication to their country.
