Dale Martin “Marty” VanHook, 53, son of the late Charles and Yvonne Wright VanHook, was born in Somerset, Ky., on Sept. 6, 1956, and departed this life on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Marty is survived by his wife, Paula Petrey VanHook, their two children, Trent and Chelsi VanHook, and one sister, Jenny Lynn VanHook. Marty also leaves behind his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Lorraine Petrey; one sister-in-law, Lisa (and Russell) Boyd; one uncle, Kerry Morrow and family; nieces and nephews Heather Loveless, and Cara, Kaitlyn and Brandon Boyd; and a host of relatives and friends who all mourn his passing.
Besides his parents, Marty was preceded in death by one sister, Mona Lisa Loveless, and two brothers, Charles “Chuck” VanHook and Dwight VanHook.
Marty was a member of the East Somerset Baptist Church where he served the Lord as the lead guitarist for the church band. He was the owner, real estate broker, and real estate appraiser for VanHook Real Estate and Accurate Appraisals.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 14, at 2 p.m. in the East Somerset Baptist Church with Dr. Darvie Fenison and Bro. Greg Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Science Hill Cemetery in Science Hill, Ky.
The family will receive friends today, March 13, after 5 p.m. at the East Somerset Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the East Somerset Baptist Church Building Fund.
