Dorothy Margaret Winter “Mimi” Weigel, 82, of Somerset, passed away on Feb. 5, 2010 with her family by her side.

She was a loving and faithful mother and wife whose passions were her faith and her family. Her dedication to the dignity of life influenced her nursing career and her unwavering respect for the rights of the unborn child.

Dottie was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Aug. 11, 1927. She received her BS in nursing from Saint Louis University, after which she taught and practiced pediatric nursing.

She had spent the last year of her life being lovingly cared for by the staff of Britthaven Nursing Home.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Gerard A. Weigel; children, Joe (Libby), Chris (Nancy), Gretchen Cole (Stan), Twig (Beverly), Mary Baker (Andy), Molly Robbins, Meg Darke (John) and Heidi McQuillen (Mike); 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Her Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at St. Mildred’s Catholic Church. The visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 at St. Mildred’s Catholic Church and after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to AIM Pregnancy Center (P.O. Box 1523, Somerset, Ky. 42502) or The Alzheimer’s Center (255 South Maple Street, Somerset, Ky. 42501).

Somerset Undertaking Co. & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Dorothy Margaret Winter Weigel.
