Conley Mize

Conley Eugene Mize, 75, Husband of Glenda Kirby Riddle Mize of Willailla, Ky., went home to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Rockcastle Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ky.

He was born on November 12, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, Ky., the son of the late Reese Mize and Lula Dyer Mize. He was a Christian and a member of the Barnesburg Baptist Church in Somerset, Ky.; where he attended church even when he was not able. He was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. On January 1, 2000 he was united in marriage to Glenda Kirby Riddle Mize, and oh, what a wonderful life they had together.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of nine-and-a-half years, Glenda Mize of Willailla, Ky.; one son, Johnny Wayne Mize (and Jane) of London, Ky.; one step-son, Bryan Riddle (and Shelly) of Somerset, Ky.; two step-daughters, Jennifer Salmons of Somerset, Ky.; Johnna Rose (Shane) of Sand Gap, Ky.; and one daughter in-law, Terri Mize of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gabbard (and Travis) of London, Ky.; Joshua Mize of London, Ky; Sally Mize of Lexington, Ky., and Kenneth Reece Mize of Little Rock, Ark.; seven step-grandchildren, Lisa Garner (and Tony) of Bald Rock, Ark., Matthew and Andrew Salmons of Somerset, Ky., Christopher and Joshua Riddle of Somerset, Ky., and Savannah and Emily Rose of Sand Gap, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Ben and Emma Gabbard of London, Ky.; two step-great grandchildren, Many Martin and Arsyen Garner of Bald Rock, Ark.; one very special niece Lori Beth Mize of Lexington, Ky.; two nephews, Greg and Jeff Mize of Ohio; one sister in-law, Geraldine Mize, as well as a host of friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Mize; two brothers, Calvin Mize and Infant brother, Bernard; and one step-son in-law, Dallas Salmons.

Visitation for Mr. Conley Eugene Mize will be from 6- 9 p.m. today at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead, Ky., and Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Barnesburg Baptist Church, Somerset, Ky.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 27 at 3 p.m. at the Barnesburg Baptist Church, Somerset, Ky., with Bro. Austin Campbell and Bro. Harold Harris officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mize Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be grandchildren, Joshua Mize, Matthew Salmons, Andrew Salmons, Christopher Riddle, Josh Riddle, Jennifer Gabbard, Sally Mize, Lisa Garner, Savannah Rose and Emily Rose. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Danny Mize, David Mize, Jeff Mize, Greg Mize and Albert Hibbard.
