Edna Baker

obituaries

Edna Bradley Woodall Baker, 88, of White Lily Dykes community passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the home of her loving granddaughter Bonnie Marie and James Carter, Jr., following a long illness.

Mrs. Baker was born in the Dykes Community on April 9, 1921 to the late Alonzo and Bertha Jenkins Bradley. She was a homemaker and member of Line Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Baker enjoyed going to church as long as she was able, gardening and being with her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie J. Stogsdill of Somerset; two step-daughters, Wilretha Shelton of Barnesburg, Ky., and Jane (and Marvin) Shelton of East Bernstadt, Ky.; three step-sons, John (and Lois) Baker, George (and Helen) Baker, and Stanley (and Vickie) Baker, all of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Woody Stogsdill, Bonnie (and James) Carter Jr., Dwayne (and Letha) Woodall, David Woodall (and friend, Lora Burton), Amy Lynn (and Roy) Chumbley, Karla Woodall, and Patty Anderson; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and a host of friends that will mourn her passing.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Woodall, whom she married on August 27, 1938 in Somerset, Ky.; a son, Carl "Woody" Woodall; a brother, John S. Bradley; a sister, Lena Alexander; a son-in-law, Othnal "Osh" Stogsdill; and her second husband, William Henry Baker, whom she married on July 6, 1993 in London, Ky.

Visitation for Mrs. Baker will be held after 6 p.m. today at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 W. Ky. 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 27 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Bro J.S. New and Bro. David Greene officiating.

Burial will follow in the Acorn Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky., 42503.
