Lou Anna Duplechin Binkley

Lou Anna Duplechin Binkley, 70, passed away at 4:54 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in Grand Cove following a lengthy illness.

Born in Welsh, La.to Madison and Gladys Richard Marcantel, Mrs. Binkley lived most of her life in the Lake Charles area. She retired from the accounting department of McNeese State University in 2000 and also retired from the American Cancer Society and Raymond James Financial Services in Somerset, Ky. 

She was a member of the Greater Somerset Rotary Club, a charter member and treasurer of the Krewe de la Noblesse, a member of the Krewe de la Famille, and a board member of the Imperial Krewe of Calcasieu. She was a past board member of the Lake Charles Housing Authority. Mrs. Binkley had many hobbies including sewing as a young woman and cooking for her family. She was a business owner, a stock trader and an avid reader. 

Mrs. Binkley is survived by her husband, Walter Binkley of Somerset, Ky.; three sons, Keith Duplechin (and wife Janie) of Lake Charles, Mark Duplechin and wife Lori of Lake Charles, and Darren Duplechin (and wife Melissa_ of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Frances Planchard of Elton, La.; seven grandchildren; five step-children; and seven step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patsy Richard; and a brother, Hillary Marcantel.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Lake Charles, La. The Rev. Jack Myers and Rev. Frances “Boo” Kay will officiate. 

Entombment will be at Consolata Cemetery. 

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and will continue on Friday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the outstanding job of caring for Mrs. Binkley to the staff of Heart of Hospice and also to the staff of Grand Cove.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vanderbilt University, ALS Research, PMB 407727, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, Tenn., 37240.
