Robert Gooch

Robert "Robbie" Ellis Gooch, age 65, of the Willaila community, died suddenly Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at his residence.

Robert was born on June 22, 1943 in Pulaski County, son of the late Orous Clyde Gooch and Hazel Poynter Gooch. He was a retired horse farm manager. He loved to trade and was well known for his expert ability to get a good deal. He was a member of the Nicholasville Church of God.

Robert is survived by his son, Michael (and Ronna) Gooch of Winchester; and two daughters, Robin (and Bruce) Orwin and Gina (and Chris) Haynes, both of Somerset. He is also survived by two sisters, Doris (and Bill) Gooch of Crab Orchard and Ora Lee (and Donald) Hurst of Brodhead.

His little sister, Deborah Lynn Gooch, preceded him in death.

Papaw Robbie will be affectionately remembered by his nine grandchildren: Zachary, Jordan and Katie Dick, Jasmine Strunk, William Orwin, Jon Haynes, Leslie Music, Ricky Carter, and Stevi Haskins; and one great-granddaughter, Ava Dick.

Robert will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his love of people and animals, his talent for gardening, and his cooking skills. But most of all, he will be remembered for his kind generous spirit and his ability to persevere.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 16 after 10 a.m. at Woodstock Baptist Church until time for services.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. at Woodstock Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Walden officiating. Robert will be laid to rest close to his parents in the Woodstock Cemetery.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
