George Hensley

George Hensley, 68, of Nancy, Ky., passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on August 8, 1940 in Bell County, Ky., the son of the late Claude Rutherford and Linda Jane Pittman Rutherford. He was a retired painter for the Cadillac Division of General Motors. He loved to cook, garden, and his family. Mr. Hensley was a member of U.A.W. and the Mill Springs Non-Denominational Church in Nancy, KY.

Mr. Hensley is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Mayes Hensley; six sons, George E. (and Cynthia E.) Hensley of Nancy, Ky., Randy C. (and Sharon) Hensley of Ashland, Ky., Terry Hensley of Nancy, Ronald Hensley of Nancy, Daniel Kordy of Michigan, abd Shawn Hensley of Michigan; three daughters, Wanda J. Hensley of Nancy, Jennifer Hensley of Virginia, and Sharon Faye (and Blaine) Holt of Detroit, Mich.; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Hensley of Nancy; eight brothers, R.E. “Rankin” (and Barb) Rutherford of Taylor, Mich., Noah I. Rutherford of Kalamazoo, Mich., J.D. (and Gert) Rutherford of Kalamazoo, Mich., Ralph (and Joy) Rutherford of Taylor, Mich., J.C. (and Debbie) Rutherford of Pineville, Ky., Henry J. (and Martha) Rutherford of Cardinal, Ky., Gary Rutherford of Calloway, Ky., and Ommer (and Linda) Rutherford of Kalamazoo, Mich.; six sisters, Mary Johnson of Detroit, Mich., Bertha (and Charles) Harbin of Detroit, Ruby (and Gary) Houck of Roscommon, Mich., Loretta (and Lester) Bingham of Ingram, Ky., Lola (and Donnie) Hickman of Frakes, Ky., and Charlene (and Ron) Boger of Pineville, Ky.; 25 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and five additional stepbrothers and sisters.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Elizabeth Hensley; a son, Wayne E. Hensley; a brother, Fred Rutherford; and a brother-in-law, Orville Johnson.

Visitation for Mr. Hensley will be Monday, December 1 after 5 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Ky. 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 2 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland funeral Home with Bro. Mark Rogers officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hensley Family Cemetery in Nancy, Ky.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements for Mr. George Hensley.
