Teddy Dunlap

Teddy Brooks Dunlap, 76 of the Cabin Hollow Community, Somerset, Ky. passed away November 27 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Teddy was born February 4, 1932 in Braxton Co., WV, a son of the late F.B. Dunlap and Gathel Hughes Carter. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Joanne White Dunlap; also two children, Whitney Dunlap of Taylorsville, Ky., and Carol Geralds of Stanford, Ky.; three grandchildren, Kelly Dunlap Shouse and Michael of Lexington, Ky., Cory Dunlap of Louisville, Ky., and Carly Geralds of Stanford, Ky. Also surviving are seven sisters, Barbara Carter Miller, Mary Carter Sergent, Joann Carter Sands, Patsy Dunlap Smith, Dotty Dunlap Honeycutt, Brynda Dunlap Fleming, and Dianne Dunlap Phillips; and three brothers, Bailey Carter, Freddy Carter, and Ben Carr.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was of the Protestant faith, and a member of the Union Park Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post no. 38, a Kentucky Colonel, and a proud member of Local 433 Boilermakers Union, Tampa, Fla., which he retired from in 1994. He had been a farmer in the Cabin Hollow Community, enjoyed his animals, especially welding and helping his neighbors.

Visitation for family and friends will be after 5 p.m. today at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, Somerset, Ky.

Visitation for family and friends in West Virginia will be Sunday, at Roach Funeral Home in Gassaway, WV on Sunday, November 30 from 2-6 p.m.

Funeral Service will be at Roach Funeral Home in Gassaway, WV on Monday, December 1 at 1 p.m. with Military Graveside Services to follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Gassaway, WV.

In lieu of flowers the family request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Dr. Somerset, KY 42503.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements of Teddy Brooks Dunlap.
