Irene Kinley

Irene Lay Kinley, 81, of Somerset passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2008. Irene was born Jan. 18, 1927, to the late Malinda Jane Jones Lay and Ollie Green Lay who preceded her in death.

Irene worked at Gregory’s Restaurant for 17 years and then worked at the Lake Cumberland Somerset Hospital for 28 years. After retiring she became a full time homemaker. She lived her life for her family. Her sweet smile and her presence will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.

Irene was married to the late Clinton Kinley in Dec. of 1947 and to their union

was born six daughters and one son.

Surviving Irene are Pauline Kinley Cremeans, (and Donald), of Winchester, N.H., Peggy J. Kinley Baker, of Somerset, Linda Kinley Sullivan (and Ronnie), of Somerset and Darlene Kinley Marcum, of Somerset,

Becky Sue Kinley Troxtell (and Steve), of Ferguson, Ky. and Tina S. Dye of Somerset, and Clinton Hollan Kinley, (and Amy), of Somerset. Also surviving Irene are her two brothers Robert Lay and William Lay of Ind. and one sister Sadie Merritt, of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Surviving grandchildren are Scott Sullivan, Cynthia Morrison, Malinda J. Rose, Angelia Dodd, Kimberly Sullivan, Christy Hall, Deanna Marcum, Ashley Steele, Stephanie Dye, and Holly Kinley. Irene is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Irene in death are her parents; her husband, Clinton; and three sisters and one brother, Dossie Lay, Christine Fisher, Grace Lay and Rufus Lay.

Visitation for Irene Lay Kinley will be Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking & Crematory from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Irene’s strong Christian faith will be honored by a Celebration of Life ceremony at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking & Crematory on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at

11 a.m. with Bro. Daivd Bullock officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
