Martha Louise (Roysden) Gossett of Cadillac, Mich., went to be with her Lord and family on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at home surrounded by her family. She was 79.
She was born in Jamestown, Tenn., on June 3, 1929 to James and Katie Blevins Roysden. On April 6, 1946 in Muncie, Ind. she married Earl W. Gossett, and in 1952 they moved to Cadillac and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 2003.
Martha had been employed at KickaWay Garment Company, BF Goodrich, Cadillac Girl Coat and Four Winns. She attended the Salvation Army Church in Cadillac and enjoyed sewing and quilting while watching movies and also enjoyed reading, but most of all she loved being with grandchildren and was known as Grandma Mart. She also loved to go sight seeing and for long rides through the woods and taking walks with her grandchildren. For the past several years she has loved going with her sister and nieces to Inspiration Park in Bryson City, NC where they would attend gospel music concerts.
Survivors include her son, David Gossett of Anchorage, Ak.; daughter, Kathy (and Jeff) Boyer of Cadillac; grandchildren Robert (and Bobby) Galloup, Jerrilyn (and Ricky) Pike, Tyler Price, and Briana Simcock all of Cadillac, Jennifer (and Vic) SaSota of Fort Polk, La., Travis Gossett of Jennings, Holly Smith, Ryan Boyer and Katie Boyer all of Cadillac; great-grandchildren, Danielle Galloup, Avery Pike and Nathan Smith all of Cadillac, Logan Galloup of Luther; great-great-grandson, Hayden of Cadillac; sister, Mary Slaven of Jamestown, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and close friends Freida Clark and Betty Johnigan.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Teresa Galloup; brothers, Arthur, Charlie, Carlie, and Coridell Roysden; amd sisters, Ebbidell Crabtree, and Armenda Conatser.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 13 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Captain Jeffrey and Erin Eddy officiating.
Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
