Gerald Carlson

Gerald S. Carlson, 83, of Bronston, Ky., passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born in DeKalb, Ill., on Dec. 28, 1924, to the late Sam and Elsie V. Gandy Carlson. He was a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was involved with Royal Rangers and Boy Scouts, and was a volunteer firefighter in Cortland, Ill. He was a member of the Tateville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Smith Carlson, whom he married Oct. 8, 1961, in Dekalb; three sons, Terry (and Cristy) Kramer, Providence Forge, Va., Mike (and Sadie) Kramer, Arizona, and Mark Kramer, Arizona; three daughters, Sharon (and Darryle) Collingsworth, Somerset, Ky., Lynn Carlson, Danville, Ky., and Linda Carlson, Bronston; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3, at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Bro. David Meece officiating.

Interment will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.

Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held today, April 2, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
