Emma Jean "Parkey" Poindexter, 76, of Franklin, Ind., passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008 in Franklin.
She was born in Somerset, Ky. on Feb. 1, 1932, daughter of the late Maude Parkey.
She was a resident of Greenwood, Ind. for forty years before moving to Franklin in 1995. She retired from Witco Chemical in Indianapolis, Ind. in 1987 after twenty- six years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 5864 in Greenwood and a member of the American Legion Post #28 of Key West, Fla.
She married Johnny Poindexter in 1952 in Indianapolis, Ind. He preceded her in passing in 1990. They had twin sons in 1958. Rickey Lee died at birth.
Surviving is a twin son, Michael A. Poindexter, of Franklin; a wonderful daughter-in-law, Terrie Poindexter; a brother, Cossie Arthur, of Greenwood; two nephews, Tony Parkey, of Franklin and Ronald Parkey, of Richmond, Ky.; and two nieces, Joana Snell, of Somerset and Kwillda Sue Sheppard, of Carlsbad, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Johnny; three brothers, Winfred, Clayton and J.D.; one sister, Sible Wells; and one nephew, Marvin Arthur.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin, Ind.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
