Carl Gilliland

Mr. Carl Gilliland was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on Dec. 31, 1936, the son of the late Leman and Ella Mae Spears Gilliland, and departed this life at his home in the Woodstock community on Nov. 21, 2007 having attained the age of 70 years.

Carl was a set up man for Tecumseh Products Company and early in life he had worked for Gibson Greeting Cards. He was a member of the Elrod Church of God.

He was united in marriage to Faye Hart Gilliland on September 24, 1955. They were married for 52 years. Other survivors are three daughters, Rita (and Steve) Cromer, Regina (and Michael) Melton, both of Somerset, and Lesa (and Eric), of Casey County; one son, Bill (and Loretta) Gilliland, of Eubank; twelve grandchildren, David Kennedy, Daniel Kennedy, Dustin Kennedy, Steven Cromer, Amy Gilliland, Bill Gilliland, Bill Gilliland Jr., Matthew Gilliland; and step grand daughter, Alicia Melton; Nikkie Melton, Michael Melton, Brandi Gibson, and Jesse Gibson; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Mae (and James) Stevens.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Lee Gilliland; stepfather, Walter Lee Hines; two sons-in-law, Robert Kennedy and Norman Gibson; three brothers, Estil, Alvin, and Orvil Gilliland; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nealie and Lena Hart.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 25 in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Chaplin David Green officating.

Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
