Margaret Louise McGowan, 72, of Jabez, Ky., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Born on March 18, 1937, in the Beech Grove community of Pulaski County, Ky., she was the daughter of Richard and Bertha Foster Haste. She was owner and operator of the McGowans Dairy Farm. Mrs. McGowan and her husband, Vernon, have owned and operated their farm for years.
Mrs. McGowan is survived by her husband, Vernon B. McGowan, whom she married on Aug. 12, 1957, in Ringgold, Ga.; a son, Timothy Allen (and Audrey) McGowan of Jabez, Ky.; a daughter, Bonita Gail (and Neil) Conkel of Jabez, Ky.; five sisters, Betty Girdler of Somerset, Joyce Stevenson of Somerset, Linda Cade of Somerset, Thelma Gilmore of Somerset, and Connie Eaton of Science Hill, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Nathan McGowan, Miranda McGowan, Rachel Conkel and Ethan Conkel.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Bertha Haste; a brother, Thomas Haste; and a sister, Mildred Muse.
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 20, from 2-6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy. 80, Somerset.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Military Springs Cemetery in Jabez.
