Dr. Penny Mauldin, 54, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at SkyRidge Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 25, 1955, in Somerset, Ky. She was a professor of chemistry at Lee University since 1990. She was a member of the City Church of Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Green; father-in-law, Reverend Walter C. Mauldin Sr.; and step-father-in-law, Artis Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dr. Walt Mauldin of Cleveland; a son, Dr. Jeremy (and Julie) Maudlin and their children, Gavin and Natalie, of Washington, D.C.; a son, Ryan Mauldin and his daughter, Audra, of Cleveland; Audra’s mother, Gabrielle, and half sister, Lana; her mother, Mae (and Jack) Corder of Somerset, Ky.; her sisters, Patricia (and Tom) Ferguson of Seneca, S.C., and Pam (and David) Worsham of Dallas, Texas; a step-sister, Sherry (and Cary) Runner of Greenville, Ohio; a step-brother, Kevin Corder of Monticello, Ky.; her mother-in-law, Joyce Jones of Lavonia, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at Westmore Church of God with Dr. Paul Conn, Dr. Mike Chapman and Dr. Jimmy Harper officiating.
Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. today, Dec. 18, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
