Mary Elaine Smith

Mary Elaine Smith, 62, of the Mark Welborn community, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at her home.

Born on December 9, 1947 in the Elihu community of Pulaski County, she was the daughter of Jack and Eva Watkins Taylor. She was a seamstress for Palm Beach Clothing Factory and worked in the bakery at Wal-Mart. Mrs. Smith attended the Eden Baptist Church and Pitman Creek Baptist Church. She loved mowing her yard and going to car races.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Richard (and Trish) Smith of Science Hill, Ky., and Doug (and Missy) Smith of the Clifty community; two brothers, Gary (and Jennifer) Taylor of the Rush Branch community and Barry Wayne (and Betty) Taylor of the Cabin Hollow community; three sisters, Linda Sue (and Don) Langford of Lowell, Ind., Patricia (and Coy) Ridner of Somerset, and Betty Lynn (and Mike) Cornett of Somerset; three grandchildren, Richard Cody Smith, Rachel Denean Smith, Thomas Hendrickson; and a previous daughter-in-law, Rhonda Smith of Somerset.

Preceding her in death was her father, Jack Taylor; husband, Carl Allen Smith Jr., whom she married on July 19, 1962 in Jellico, Tenn.; and a brother, Arnold Ray Taylor.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, December 12 at 5 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with a "Celebration of Life" service to follow at 8 p.m.

Bro. Gary Wilson will officiate.

Arrangements for Mary Elaine Smith are entrusted to Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
