Allen “Rocky” Hurt

Allen "Rocky" Hurt, age 60, a resident of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Sunday morning, Nov. 29, 2009 at Britthaven of Somerset.
He was born Dec. 13, 1948 at Somerset, Ky., the son of the late Garnett Roscoe Hurt and Elva Dunbar. Rocky had been employed by the Pulaski County Fiscal Court as the Pulaski County Road Supervisor until his retirement. He was a graduate of Pulaski County High School and was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County. He was of the Methodist faith and was a founding member of the Lake City Beagle Club. Rocky was a Kentucky Colonel and a Pulaski County Good Ole Boy.
He is survived by three brothers, Norman Hurt, Harold Hurt and Plano Dunbar, all of Somerset, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garnett and Elva.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at Lange & New Bros. Family Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Strunk officiating. Musical selections picked by Rocky include “Long Black Train,” “I Believe,” “Me and Jesus Got Our Own Thing Going,” “Amazing Grace,” and "”n The Sweet Bye and Bye.”
A visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lange & New Bros. Family Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established to the First Wesleyan Methodist Church, Empire Spur, Somerset, Ky. or to the Lake City Beagle Club.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Rocky's pallbearers will be Rick Wiles, Rodney Turner, Danny Dalton, Rodney Dick, Rod Tejada, Rick Tejada, Dennis Burton, Darrell BeShears, Robert Keith, Bruce Keeney, James Snell, Charles Correll Jr., and Carl Dobbs.
Rocky's selections for honorary pallbeaers are Ralph Troxtell, Phillip McClendon, Walter Creekmore, Lee Burton and Blaine Correll Sr.
