Robert Blanton III
Robert H. “Bob” Blanton III, 65, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Born on April 3, 1944, in Lexington, Ky., he was the son of the late Robert H. and Eva Louise Pelfrey Blanton II.
He was a retired courier for Emery Air Freight in Lexington, Ky., former Scout Master in the Boy Scouts, and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Blanton loved playing the piano and chess. He enjoyed fishing, history, reading, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Mr. Blanton was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda June Mullins Blanton III, whom he married on July 3, 1971, in Lexington; two daughters, Regina Blanton Goodman and Rebecca Blanton Owens, both of Lexington; a brother, Gary Blanton of Florida; a sister, Deborah Cornett of Paris, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Kiara Smith, Jaleah Goodman, Stacia Goodman, Keyron Bowman, and T.J. Owens.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert H. and Eva Louise Pelfrey Blanton II.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Ransford officiating.
Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
