James C. "Jim" Sears, 62, of Science Hill, Ky., passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

He was born in Ruth, Ky. on Nov. 17, 1947, son of Ola Brinson Sears and the late James Clarence Sears. He was a sales clerk for Southern States and a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Bumgardner Sears of Science Hill; his mother, Ola Sears of Somerset; one son, Timothy Miller of Eubank; and one brother, Larry Eugene Sears of Nancy.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Clarence Sears; and father-in-law, Virgil Bumgardner.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Rev. J.S. New officiating.

Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.

Visitation for James C. "Jim" Sears will be after 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
