William Higdon

obituaries

William “Bill” Higdon, 78, of Bronston, Ky. passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Mr. Higdon was born in Lexington, Ill., on June 11, 1931 to the late Jack and Reid Wheeler Higdon formerly of Glasgow, Ky. His is a Korean War Veteran. Mr. Higdon was a long time member of Quinton Baptist Church, loved to work with wood crafts and was an artist (painter). He also enjoyed playing golf, very active with Little League Baseball, past president Babe Ruth Baseball League of Somerset and retired computer tech for Continental Telephone Company, London, Ky.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hester Higdon whom he married November 5, 1952 in Nashville, Tenn.; three children, Ken Higdon, Somerset, Ky, Barry (and Margaret) Higdon, Melbourne, Fla., Brice (and Donna) Higdon, Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren Kyle, Kristen, Tyler, Summer, Megan, Nathan Higdon; and a very special friend, “his dog,” Angel.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A time to greet friends will be held from 6 -7 p.m. today at the Quinton Baptist Church of Bronston, Ky.

With an informal Celebration of Life being held at 7 p.m. today also at the Quinton Baptist Church

of Bronston, Ky. with Bro. Jimmy Dishman officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Quinton Baptist Church of Bronston Building Fund.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements of William “Bill” Higdon.
