Tilden Back

obituaries

Mr. Tilden (Sam) Back, age 81, a resident of Burnside, Ky. passed away at his home on Sunday evening, Nov. 1, 2009.

He was born June 6, 1928 at Jackson, Ky., the son of the late William Back and Cleta Landrum Back. Tilden was united in marriage to Doris Boggs Back and she preceded him in death on July 10, 1994.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Sonny Back and one in infancy, Danny Back; also one grandson, Daniel Dean Back.

Surviviors include two sons, Herbert Rudell Back and his wife Debbie Jennings and William Randall Back, both of Burnside, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Dale Back, Springfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jamie Back and Tara Wheeler, both of Springfield, Ohio and Troy Back, of Somerset; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Hunt, Middletown, Ohio.

Tilden was a veteran of the United States Marines and later worked in Civil Service as an auditor for the United States Government. He loved studying family geneolgy and playing any of his musical talents on any type of string instrument.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening after 5 p.m. for friends and neighbors at Lange & New Bros. Family Funeral Home, 603 Monticello Street, in Somerset.

A visitation will also be held at the Chapel of Woodside Cemetery on Friday beginning at 2 p.m. with a funeral service following at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio.
