Sarah Pettyjohn, daughter of the late Berry and Ida Bland Johnson, was born in Pulaski County, Ky. on June 24, 1915 and she departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 having attained the age of 94 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Fayette Pettyjohn, he preceded her in death.
Survivors include several nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives who celebrate her life and mourn her passing.
Other than her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen, Everett, Tommy, and Forrest Johnson; one sister, Martha Johnson; and one brother, Elbert Bland.
Sarah was a very strong willed person who enjoyed life and her home, she adhered to the Baptist faith, and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She loved the staff at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation and enjoyed the activities they provided for her.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Pettyjohn will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mrs. Sarah Pettyjohn will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Friday until time for services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Activities Department of Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation, 106 Gover Street, Somerset, Ky. 42503.
