Michael Meece

obituaries

Michael Neal Meece, 19, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Va., resulting from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Michael was born on Sept. 3, 1990, in Somerset, the son of Mickey Meece and Tammy Flynn. He was a 2008 graduate of Southwestern High School and member of the Jr. R.O.T.C. program. Michael loved playing video games, his guitar, and all kinds of music. He loved being with friends and family and helping others. He was of the Baptist faith.

Michael is survived by his father, Mickey Meece of Somerset; his mother, Tammy Flynn of Somerset; paternal grandfather, William Neal Meece of Somerset; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Jennings of Somerset; maternal grandfather, Darrell Flynn of Somerset; two uncles, Bill Meece of Louisiana and Chris (and Angie) Flynn of Lexington, Ky.; three aunts, April Meece of Somerset, Amber Jennings of Somerset, and Laura (and Brian) Craynon of London, Ky.; other special family members, Barbara Tucker of Somerset, Tommy Tucker of Bronston, Ky., Steven Tucker of Bronston, and Don Tucker of Bronston; and his best friend, who was like a brother, Kylie Reece Vela of Aylett, Va.

Preceding him in death was his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Smith, and all of his great grandparents.

Visitation for Michael will be Saturday, Oct. 24, after 5 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy. 80, Somerset.

A private funeral service for the family will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Burial will be in the Somerset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Michael Neal Meece Memorial Fund, c/o Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
