Zelma Marie Roberts Wesley, 96, of Science Hill, Ky., passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at Montgomery Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was born in Science Hill, Ky. on January 20, 1913, daughter of the late Harlan and Flonnie Dunsmore Roberts. Zelma was loved and cared for my many. She was an active member of Northside Baptist Church and a devout Christian. She was a bookkeeper at one point in her life and worked at

other jobs in Ohio and Florida at different points in her life. She and her husband, William "Ray" Wesley, lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, Wiersdale, Fla. and Zellwood, Fla. during their long marriage together before moving back to Science Hill in the 1980s.

She was a smart and funny woman who earned her GED at the age of 79. She loved God, the Church, her entire family, Gospel music, the banjo and organ, the color red, walking, old pictures and good

food. She will be missed by many but never forgotten.

Zelma was married to William "Ray" Wesley for over fifty years and had three children, Hester M. Bales and Margaret E. Wesley, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Edgar T. Wesley, who died shortly after birth. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Carol R. Davis, Kim H. McMahon and William "Bill" S.

Wesley; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Wesley, Stefani McMahon, Don-Nichole Lay, Daniel McMahon, Brian Wesley, David Wesley and Michael Lay; four great-great-grandchildren, Charles Simmons, Michael Simmons, Marcus Simmons and Jazzmyne Sims and one sister, Thelma Mae Roberts Ferrell of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Wendel Roberts, Ed Roberts, James Roberts and Ray Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Northside Baptist Church with Bro. David Muse and Michael Lay officiating.

Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
