Helen Sexton

Helen Ann Pence Sexton, age 70 of Ferguson, Ky., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on April 11, 1939 in the Sugar Hill community of Somerset, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Perry Pence. She was a cook for over 20 years at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home and a member of the Ferguson Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sexton is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (and Lisa) Sexton of Monticello, Ky. and Joseph Sexton of Ferguson, Ky.; a daughter, Paula Reed of Somerset; a brother, Raydean (and Darlene) Pence of the Ringgold community; three sisters, Dorothy Bumgardner of Shelbyville, Ind., Lola Bray of Ferguson, Ky., and Rosemary Glover of Ferguson, Ky.; three grandchildren, Melody Richardson, Bobbie Joe Stanton, and Frankie Reed; a step-granddaughter, Rachelle Padgett; and three great-grandchildren, McKenzyn Reed, Chelesa Richardson, and Eric Richardson.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James Paul Sexton, whom she married on Nov. 5, 1956 in Somerset and who passed away on Oct. 5, 1993; a set of twins; a brother, James Pence; and two sisters, Ova Lanton and Janie Pence.

Visitation for Mrs. Sexton will be Monday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home and then after 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the Ferguson Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Ferguson Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Moore and Bro. Mike Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Ky.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the American Cancer Society and/or American Heart Association.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements of Helen Ann Pence Sexton.
