Phyllis Jean Muse Latham, age 76 of Somerset, departed this life on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on June 8, 1933 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Charles and June Thompson Gaynor. She was a retired cottage aide at Oakwood and member of Main Street Baptist Church in Burnside, Ky.
Mrs. Latham is survived by two sons, Tim (and Betty) Muse of Science Hill, Ky. and Gordon (and Krista) Muse of Sloans Valley, Ky.; six daughters, Theresa Maggard of the Blue John community, Gayle (and Joe) Peterson of Paris, Ky., Chris (and Joe) Merrick of Somerset, Cheryl (and Kenny) Nichols of Somerset, Delta Latham of Nancy, Ky., and Joy Latham of Richmond, Ky.; a brother, Charles Gaynor of Ojai, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Arlene Latham of Russell Springs, Ky.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and June Gaynor; husband, Fred M. Latham Sr., whom she married in June 1960, in Oneida, Tenn.; a son, Fred Latham Jr.; a daughter, Karen Muse; a brother, Donn Gaynor; and a son-in-law, Earl Maggard.
Visitation for Mrs. Latham will be Friday, March 19 at 5 p.m. at the Main Street Baptist Church, Burnside, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at the Main Street Baptist Church, Burnside, Ky. with Bro. Allen Keith officiating. Burial will be in the Latham Family Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the American Diabetes Association.
