Bernadean Rachel Walker, age 71 of Somerset, departed this life on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 12,1938 in Drum, Ky., the daughter of Samuel and Fannie McGowan Brinson. She was homemaker and a member of the Saline Church of God. She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, flowers, gardening, grandchildren and her family.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her husband, Robert Ray Walker, whom she married in 1973 in Somerset, Ky.; three sons, Robert “Bobby” Stephens of Somerset, Dennis Earl (and Tammy) Silvers of Somerset, and Charles "Sammy" (and Teresa) Silvers of Burnside, Ky.; four daughters, Sharon Holt of Somerset, Sheila Sullivan of Glasgow, Ky., Tammy (and Rick) Linville of Nancy, Ky., and Dakota Michelle (and Tony) Meece of Science Hill, Ky.; three sisters, Alta (and Bobby) Thompson of Somerset, Alfreda (and Gene) Stevenson of Somerset, and Carolyn (and Gerald) Ping of Somerset; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Samuel and Fannie Brinson; a daughter, Janie Stephens; a brother, Carroll "Buddy" Vanhook; a sister, Gathel Sears; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation for Mrs. Walker will be Monday, March 15 at 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro David Bullock officiating. Burial will be in the Piney Grove #1 Cemetery
