Phyllis Roshier

obituaries

Phyllis Cherry Roshier, 86, widow of William Alfred Roshier, traded in life on earth to dance the streets of Heaven on Sunday, March 14, 2010.

Phyllis was born in Ontario, Canada on June 2, 1923 to Cherry Kinkead and Campbell Gordon. During WWII she worked in a Canadian war plant. In 1953 Phyllis and Bill moved their two girls, Kathleen Angela and Phyllis Margaret Ann to Pa. where another daughter, Pamela Elaine, was born in 1955. Phyllis was a dedicated mother who was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed having her daughters' friends in their home. In Aug. 1988 she moved to Somerset, Ky. where she was active with several senior citizen groups including Saints Alive at Victory Christian Fellowship where she attended church. Phyllis had a heart for children and those less fortunate enabling her to thoroughly love her work as an "Oakwood Granny" through the volunteer grandparent program at the Oakwood facility. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading, being with people, and making cabbage patch dolls.

For the past three years Phyllis has lived in the loving home enviroment of McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home where the kind staff that cared for her also became her friends. She greatly enjoyed bantering back and forth with them and the administrator, Sam Hutchinson. We are very thankful to each one of them for making Mom's stay a very pleasant one.

Phyllis was pre-deceased by her husband, William; her parents, Campbell and Cherry; two brothers, Tommy Gordon and Eric Gordon; two sisters, Colleen Gordon Clarkson and Angela Gordon; and a great-grandson, Moses Rowlands.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (David) Hinton, Phyllis (Jeff) Lippincott, and Pamela (Ed) Leblanc; one brother, Colin (Gwen) Gordon; grandchildren, Jennifer Bartlett, Ross Bartlett, Stacy Hughes, Lisa Sinn, Roy (Linda) Kolk, Elizabeth (Scott) Rowlands, Amy (Michael) Hogan, and Staff Sgt. Christopher Hinton; and great-grandchildren, Steven, Amanda, Katie, Brittany, Zachery, Kendall, Jimmy, Trey K., Hailey, Grady, Gaven, and Trey H.
