Robert Roy

Robert E. “Gene” Roy, son of the late Minnie W. and Balona Kissee Roy was born at Cain Store, Ky., on Jan. 14, 1927, and departed this life on Aug. 9, 2009, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky., having attained the age of 82 years.

Mr. Roy was a 1951 graduate of the University of Kentucky; retired from Carnation Milk Co., Dairymen Inc., and Roy’s Auto Sales; a U.S. Air Force veteran; a Master Mason; and a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset.

He was married to Anna Frances Peel on July 14, 1951, in Somerset. She survives.

Gene is survived by three sons, John Stephen (and Deborah) Roy of Somerset, Richard Allen (and Vena) Roy of Oneida, Tenn., and Donald Wayne (and Dawn) Roy of San Antone, Texas; one daughter, Donna Gaye Roy Daulton of Somerset; two grandsons, Jarred Gregory Daulton and Ryan Robert Roy; four granddaughters, Amber Brittany Roy, Amanda E. Roy, Carlee Beth Roy, and Madison Raena Roy; one great grandson, Channing James Belcher; two sisters, Gladys Wilson of Cain Store and LaFern Dunham of San Antone; three brothers, Ertis Roy (and Faye) of Cain Store, Oval C. (and Phyllis) Roy of Nancy, Ky., and Larry J. (and Nancy) Roy of Nancy; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ovalene Whittle; and three brothers, Ronald, Arlis, and Garry M. Roy.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. with Dr. French Harmon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. today, August 12, at the Pulaski Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Somerset Building Fund.
