George VanHook

obituaries

George Edward VanHook, 72 of Waynesburg passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 in Stanford, Ky. He was born in Pulaski County on Monday, Oct. 11, 1937 to Doris Benge VanHook of Eubank and the late Vola VanHook. George was a member of Eubank Baptist Church, a farmer who enjoyed bailing hay and was an avid UK fan.

George leaves behind his wife Janie VanHook of Waynesburg; two sons, Pete VanHook and his wife Diana of Waynesburg, and Steven VanHook of Waynesburg; a daughter, Marsha VanHook of Somerset; a brother, Larry VanHook of Somerset; three sisters, Lois Sharp of Eubank, Gene Correll of Somerset, and Debbie Petrey of Lexington; a grandson, Dale VanHook; three special great-grandchildren Steven VanHook, Gracie and Abgail Day; and a host of nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his father and two grandsons, Trace and Josh VanHook.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home, Waynesburg, with Bros. Shelby Reynolds and Noel Dotson officiating. Burial will be in White Lily Cemetery in Pulaski County.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home, Waynesburg.

Active pallbearers are Willie Rice, Terry Keith, Dale and Pete VanHook, Richard Maxie, Bill Jones, Donald Johnson, Doug Lay, Randy Story, and Ernie Eldridge.
