Francis Purcell

obituaries

Francis E. Purcell, age 73, of Science Hill, Ky., passed away on July 31, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on April 16, 1936 in Connersville, Ind., the son of the late Charles Purcell and Avis Davis. Mr. Purcell was a retired caster for Crane Plumbing, United States Army veteran, and attended the Beech Grove United Methodist Church.

Mr. Purcell is survived by his wife, Norena Morris Purcell; a son, Lewis (and Dawn) Blankenship of Somerset; six daughters, Melissa (and Barry) Lee of Somerset, Kimberly (and Jamie) Graham of Science Hill, Ky., Linda (and Larry) Edwards of Somerset, Laura (and Douglas) Strunk of Science Hill, Ky., Ruth Ann (and Carson) Brewster of Somerset, and Yvonne (and Steve) Nichols of Somerset; two brothers, Larry and Bruce Purcell, both of Connersville, Ind.; two sisters, Cindy Sweeny and Chrissy Burgess, both of Ind.; 13 grandchildren, Russell Edwards, Sandra Strunk, Scott (and Ashley) Strunk, Mike Brewster, Brian (and Brandi) Nichols, Sara (and Bobby) Hayes, Clair (and Robbie) Edwards, Sydney Blankenship, Kristofer (and Marissa) Abbott, Amber Viers, Cierra Purcell, Caleb Graham, and Jacob Graham; and three great-grandchildren, Elijah Strunk, Halanah Strunk, and Jaylynn Carrender.

Preceding him in death were his parents; stepmother, Cora Purcell; three brothers, David, Ronald, and Johnny; two sisters, Karen Raines and Donna Jean; and a grandson, Christopher Goff.

Visitation for Mr. Purcell will be today from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Science Hill, Ky. The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors for Mr. Purcell.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Francis E. Purcell.
