Somerset — Logan Gordon Renner, 13, of Souldern, Oxfordshire, UK, passed away on Jan. 30, 2012 at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK, surrounded by his family.  

Logan, the much-loved first child of Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Logan Renner and Jennifer Gordon Renner, was born Oct. 5, 1998 at Andrews Air Force Base, Md. He was a student at Kingham Hill School, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.

Logan accepted Jesus as his savior at the age of 8 and was a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery, Ala. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 220 and was a fine musician. He loved playing with friends and cousins, as well as time alone with his books and Legos.

Logan will be missed by his sisters, Mary Grace and Anna, and his brother

Paul.

Logan is also survived by grandparents Gene and Ginny Renner of Somerset, Ky. and Jack and Molly Gordon of Hopkinsville, Ky.; uncle Jeff (Lana) Renner; aunts Jennifer Renner (Mark) Kelly, and Jill Gordon (David) Vaughan; cousins Andrew Renner, Jackson Vaughan and Ella Vaughan; and adopted grandparents Tom and Elsie Pitts.

Having lived on three continents, Logan had friends all over the world who also will miss his kindness and his happy smile.

The following memorial services have been scheduled at East Somerset Baptist Church on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 12 p.m., with Captain (Chaplain) Todd Dickman officiating, and at First Baptist Church, Montgomery, Ala. on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. with Reverend Jay Wolf officiating.

A private burial service will be held at Mill Springs National Cemetery, Nancy, Ky.

Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, Ky., is in charge of local arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Fisher House, a medical program to assist military families in times of need (www.fisherhouse.org), or the Kentucky Organ Donor Association (www.kyorgandonor.org).

His parents have issued the following statement:

Our Logan, kind and generous always, has provided the gift of life and sight for eight British young people. His sweet heart has been transplanted to another child, and seven other families have gotten life-changing good news because of him. Thank you for your love and prayers.
