Nellie Roy

Somerset —  

Nellie G. Pittman Roy, age 88 of Nancy, Ky., departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at her home. Born on Sept. 11, 1924 in Nancy, Ky., she was the daughter of Achillus Monroe and Rosetta "Rosa" (Sumpter) Pittman. Mrs. Roy was a school teacher for the Pulaski County School System, retiring from the Nancy Elementary School. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, her family, and church. Mrs. Roy was a member of the Cedar Point Baptist Church. 
She is survived by her son, Jerry (and Sandra) Roy of Nancy, Ky.; a granddaughter, Hilary Roy of Nancy, Ky.; three sisters, Gladys Mounce of Nancy, Ky., Edith (and Lloyd) Jasper of Nancy, Ky., and Ruth (and Tully) Turner of Somerset; two brothers, Joe Pittman of Nancy, Ky. and Raymond (and Betty) Pittman of Nancy, Ky.; a half- brother, Delmer Sumpter; and several nieces and nephews. 
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Roy, whom she married on Sept. 19, 1946 in Jamestown, Ky. and who passed away on July 7, 2001; a son, Ernest Roy Jr.; a daughter who died in infancy, Connie Sue Roy; a half-sister, Bess Hines (and her husband, Lloyd); three half-brothers, Oda Pittman, Shelvie Pittman, and Columbus Pittman; a brother-in-law, Howard Mounce; and two sisters-in-law, Eva Pittman and Flonnie Sumpter.
Visitation for Mrs. Roy will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with her funeral service at 12 p.m. Bro. Lester Caldwell will officiate. 
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Ky.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky., 42503.
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Nellie G. Pittman Roy.
