Ronald Whitaker, age 76 of Burdine Valley, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1936 to the late Walter and Pearl Burdine Whitaker in Burdine Valley. Mr. Whitaker enjoyed gardening, traveling, outdoors, visiting with friends, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the pentecostal faith.
Mr. Whitaker leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Melena (Roger) Adkins of Burdine Valley; step-son, Artman Ballou of Lorian, Ohio; step-daughter, Theressa Howard; brother, Jerry (Wanda) Whitaker of Burdine Valley; sister, Norma Carlton of Ind.; grandchildren, Amber, Joseph, Summer, Savanna, Kayla and Shelby; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Katleyn, Taylynn, Jace; and Wanda Ballou; several nieces, nephews, cousins, many many friends; and one special cousin, Gene Whitaker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Carlos Whitaker; brothers, Marlin and Scoble Whitaker; sister, Orpha Adkins; and fiancee, Janet Whitaker.
Visitation for Mr. Whitaker will be Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Kevin Bullock officiating.
Interment will follow in the Whitaker Cemetery.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
