Orville Simpson, age 88 of Somerset, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 at Sunrise Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Simpson was born on Dec. 20, 1923 in Russell Springs, Ky. to the late Samuel and Sarah Ona Bray Simpson. He was a United States Air Force veteran of WWII, retired carpenter for the Brown Brothers Construction Company, and of the Baptist faith. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, the outdoors, and visit flea markets and yard sales.
Mr. Simpson married Margaret G. Hodge Simpson on May 29, 1948 in Somerset, Ky. and she survives him.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a brother, Arnold Eugene (and Mary) Simpson of Eubank, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Ruth New, Carolyn Thompson, Deanna Murray, Lou Hewitt, and Shirley Simpson; and two brothers, Ernie and Arlie Simpson.
Visitation for Mr. Simpson will be Saturday, Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with his funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. Bro. David Morris will officiate. Burial will be in the West Somerset Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Mr. Simpson will be Ronald Zachary, Donald Zachary, Mike Zachary, Randall Zachary, Darrin Davis, and Donny Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to God's Helping Hands, 1233 Pine Hill Road, Somerset, Ky. 42501.
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements for Orville Simpson.
