Raymond Fisher, 73, of Nancy passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4 , 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.  

He was born May 9, 1938 in Lima, Ohio to the late Robert and Marie Fischer. Raymond was a retired Gunnery Sgt. in the United States Marine Corp having served 30 years which included two tours in Vietnam. He achieved 27 awards. Some of the commendations and citations included: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/device, Presidential Unit

Citation, Good Conduct Medal w/3 stars, Pistol Sharp Shooter Badge and Good Conduct Medal 1st and 2nd Award.  

He succeeded in running over 2000 miles. He had began running as part of his conditioning program when he became interested in boxing. He became a runner-up in the middleweight class and while on a tour of duty in Hastings, Neb., Raymond defeated the Nebraska State champion in the Golden Gloves

finals in 1958.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Emma Davis Fisher; a stepson, Glenn Allen Huff of Jabez, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Norma Bellman (and Larry O.) Jones of Jabez, Ky.; grandchildren, Hillary (and Clinton) Cooper and Tabbatha Huff (John Espionsa); great-grandchildren, Ella Nora Cooper and Graham Raymond Davis Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two step sons, Wilburn Ray Huff and Wayne Edward Huff.

Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Nancy Funeral Home.

A celebration of Raymond's life will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Nancy Funeral Home with Bro Emmett Lanham and Bro. Jerry Burnett officiating.

The United States Marine Corp Honor Guard will provide full military honors. Interment will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Nancy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Raymond Fisher.
