John Coombe

Mr. John M. Coombe, son of the late William F. and Elsie Ott Coombe, formerly of Mechanicsburg, Pa., died on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Somerset, Ky. at the age of 88.
He served in the U.S. Navy on PC1176 as Electricians Mate First Class from Feb. 8, 1943 through March 5, 1946. His ship brought the first soldiers onto Omaha Beach during World War II. He was a graaduate of Camp Hill High School
He was united in marriage 63 years to Mrs. Zula W. Coombe, who passed away on Jan. 18, 2011. 
He is survived by his two children, Patti Ann (and Dr. Halbert J.) Feinberg of Somerset, Ky. and Mr. Scott R. (and Debbie) Coombe of St. Cloud, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Christalena and Angessa Hughmanick. 
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Coombe and Robert L. Messic; and one sister, Dorothy Alvord.
John was a kind and gentle person loved by his family and friends. He taught them to appeciate the glorious beauty of nature and the outdoors. His careers included Electrician, Realtor, and Sportsmans sales. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fly fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was a
member of the VFW post 109 and the NRA.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery of Annville, Pa. 
He will be committed to his final resting place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Immediately following the services, a lunch will be served at Gulliftys, 1104 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, Pa. following the burial. 
Donations  can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky., 42503,
in appreciation for all of their support for John and his family during his stay.
