Robert J. Chrisman, age 84 of Somerset, departed this life on Feb. 3, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Chrisman was born on Aug. 15, 1927 in Monticello, Ky. to the late James and Stella McDaniel Chrisman. He was married to Dorothy Jean Perdue Chrisman on Dec. 7, 1953 in Jellico, Tenn. and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Chrisman retired with 20 years of service in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served during the Korean and Vietnam War eras. He loved to fish, fox hunt, bowl, and golf. Mr. Chrisman also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Danny Howard Chrisman of W.Va. and Kenny L. (and Marie) Chrisman of Somerset; three daughters, Roberta Warren of Henderson, Texas, Tammy Sue (and John) Herrea of Abilene, Texas, and Shirley Faye (and Dale) Whitson of Somerset; three grandchildren, Kenneth Lee Chrisman II, Robert McKinney, and Michael McKinney; and six great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Whitaker; and a sister, Christine Dearman.
The Chrisman family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
A funeral service for Mr. Chrisman will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Sewell officiating. Interment will be in the Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg, Ky.
The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard of Somerset will conduct military honors for Mr. Chrisman.
