David Lewis
David Michael Lewis, 60, of Somerset, departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at his home.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert E. and Marilyn L. Purdom Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a retired teacher and football coach for Southwestern High School. He had over 39 years of coaching high school football both in Kentucky and Ohio. Mr. Lewis played football himself for four
years at the University of Cincinnati. He was a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Coaching Association and attended the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Somerset.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ann Marcum Lewis, whom he married on Aug. 15, 1987 in Cincinnati, Ohio; four sons, Michael, Robert, and Daniel Lewis, all of Somerset, and Chad Lewis of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Kelly (and Jim) Moorman of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Steve Lewis.
Visitation for Mr. Lewis will be Thursday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church with his funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. Bro. Allen Fischer, Bro. Gary Phelps, Dr. Greg Ryan, and Bro. David Green will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Kinser Cemetery in Jonesville, Va. Pallbearers for Mr. Lewis will be Cody Epperson, Justin Epperson, Daulton Marlow, Cameron Merrick, Michael Lewis, Robert Lewis, Daniel Lewis, and Greg Marcum.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Coach Lewis Scholarship Fund.
