John H. Gilmore, 75 of Somerset, departed this life on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Somerset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Gilmore was born on August 18, 1936 in Somerset, Ky., to the late Madison and Sarah F. Evans Gilmore. He retired as a chef from Holiday Inn and attended the Maple Street 1st Baptist Church in Somerset. Mr. Gilmore loved to hunt ride horses, cook, and travel. He liked cars and enjoyed watching Western movies.
Mr. Gilmore is survived by two daughters, Eunice Gilmore of Radcliff, Ky., and Angela Cantrell of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Temeka Gilmore, Robert Taylor, and Maurice Gilmore Jr.; three great grandchildren, Joz`lyn Taylor, Dav`ion Taylor, and Nathaniel Gilmore; and three sisters, Mattie Perkins of Somerset, Wilena Fitzpatrick of Somerset, and Christene Olds of Louisville, KY.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Maurice Gilmore; a brother, Luther Gilmore; and three sisters, Stella Middlebrook, Louise Young, and Jessie Waters.
The Gilmore family will receive friends at 12 noon on Friday, February 3 at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Mr. Gilmore's funeral service to follow at 3 p.m.
Bro. James Barleston will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Gilmore, Stacy Perkins, David Perkins, Alex Stigall, Phillip Perkins, and Robert Taylor.
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for John H. Gilmore.
