Betty Gertrude Godby Sims, 72, of Russell Street in Danville, formerly of Stanford, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Sunday, Feb. 18, 1940 in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edna Godsey Godby. She was the widow of the late James Verdon Sims.
Betty was a member of Green River Pentecostal Church, and she loved to sew, quilt, and work puzzles. She was a retired LPN and she worked many years for Stanford House Nursing Home.
Betty leaves behind her children, Rebecca Sue Sims Hines (boyfriend-Rannie Payton) of Stanford, James Robert Sims (Crystal Estes) of Junction City, and Richard Lee Sims (Wendy Jones); siblings, Walter “Sonny” Godby, Jr. of Louisville, Kenneth Godby of Stanford, Mary Louise Criswell of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Douglas Lee Godby of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Judy Kay Kirkpatrick (Keith) of Stanford; six grandchildren, Angela Sims Spears (Jon), Stephanie Sims Powers, Everett Hines, Jr. (Kendra), Thomas Lee Smith, and Cody and Amber; and three great-grandchildren, Evan Hines, Cooper Spears, and Caroline Powers.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Darvin Eugene Sims.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Jones officiating the service.
Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 at the funeral home.
Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, is in charge of the arrangements.
