Harold Atkins

Somerset —  

Harold L. Atkins, 84, of Somerset, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital..
He was born April 16, 1928 in Ludlow, Pa. to the late Preston and Alma (Troutner) Atkins. Harold was a navy veteran and later worked in the supply branch of the Air Force and the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He also did consulting work through Logtec, Inc. before retiring.
He served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in many ministry capacities over the years, including as song leader, youth director, and through seniors outreach ministries, among other things. He loved to sing and continued to do so until his death.
Harold is survived by his wife of 59 years, Willena (Weddle) Atkins of Somerset; one son David Atkins (Judy) of Linton, Ind.; three brothers, Howard Atkins (Jackie) of Jamestown, N.Y., Myron Atkins (Emma) of Tipp City, Ohio, and William Atkins (Viola) of Jamestown, N.Y.; one sister, Nancy Olson of Gastonia, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Olive Dawes of Nancy, Ky.; and numerous nephews and nieces. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven other brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Burnett of Trinity Fellowship officiating. 
Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Harold L. Atkins will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home.
Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers family request expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to the Trinity Fellowship Church.
Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Harold L. Atkins.
