Mr. Eugene Couch, 74, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
He was born in Leslie County, Ky., October 10, 1937, the son of William and Mable Mason Couch. He retired as a fork lift driver for General Motors Corporation after 30 years of service. He was a Union Steward for United Rubber Workers and was a member of the Golf Team for General Motors. He enjoyed UK sports, fishing, playing Bingo, and going to flea markets.
He is survived by his wife, Devona Taylor Couch; two sons, Lt. J. Dion Couch, U.S. Coast Guard, of Arlington, Va., and Derek Couch, of Hitachi Corp., of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Bill Couch of Dayton, Ohio, Aaron Couch of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Don Couch of Boise, Idaho; one sister, Sharon Thompson of Union, Ohio; five grandchildren, James Brandon, Jessica, Brittany, Coral, and Cherokee; and one great grandchild, Cormac McClintock. Also surviving are a special aunt and uncle, Oscar and Zelma Rice of East Bernstadt.
Funeral services for Mr. Couch were conducted Thursday, February 16 at 7 p.m. at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Ramsey. Burial was in Cresthaven Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Travis Ashley, Aaron Couch, Derek Couch, J. Dion Couch, and Bill Pyle.
