Sue Cooper

 

Sue K. Cooper, 86, of Science Hill, Ky., passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital  in Lexington, Ky. 
She was born February 26, 1926 in Ashland, Ky. to the late Leonard M. and Sarah Frances Jones Ketterer. She was united in marriage to Richard W. Cooper, Jr. on June 23, 1947 in Lexington, Ky.
Sue was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Glen Gover Sunday School Class. She graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing as a R.N. in 1948. She loved her work as a nurse.  She worked as a nurse for more than 30 years.
She worked at Good Samaritan and Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY., Somerset City Hospital and then she retired from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after 19 years of service. She was active with ARC (Association of Retarded Citizens) and was the past president.
Sue is survived by her husband; daughters, Virginia (and Bruce) Boss of Indianapolis, Ind., Beverlee  Dowdy of Somerset, Ky., and Vivian (and Arwin) Dalton of Science Hill, Ky.; son Brad Cooper of Somerset, Ky.; grandchildren Heather Rachel Boss (and Brian) Roach of Georgetown, Ky., and Paula Elizabeth Dowdy (and Adam) Roberts of Lebanon Junction, Ky.; and three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler and Cameron Roach.  She is also survived by her sisters, Alice Jean K. Gibson of Wilmore, Ky., and Ann Martin (and Robert) Pace of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Visitation for Sue will be held Friday, September 14 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
A celebration honoring the life of Sue will be held immediately following the visitation at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Reffett officiating. 
Pallbearers will include: Brad Cooper, Bruce Boss, Arwin Dalton, Brian Roach, Adam Roberts, Tyler Roach and Cameron Roach. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glen Gover Sunday School Class.
Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the General Fund at First United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
