A Pulaski County man who pleaded guilty in December to murder in the shooting death of his wife was sentenced in court this week.
Timmy K. Hislope, 52, had also in December pleaded guilty to charges connected with a short stand-off he had with responding pol-ice officers at the home he shared with his wife, Mary Gil-more Hislope, 44, who was shot and killed during the Aug. 9, 2012 incident.
Hislope was sen-tenced in Pulaski Circuit Court Thur-sday to 20 years in prison for one count of murder and three counts of wanton endangerment.
Hislope was arr-ested Aug. 9 after he shot and killed Mary Gilmore Hislope at their home on Okalona Road in Nancy with Kentucky State Police troopers and a Pulaski County sheriff’s deputy just outside the residence.
Hislope was initially indicted in September on one count of murder, one count of kidnapping and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
After Hislope shot his wife within their home, he raised a shotgun and pointed it in the responding officers’ direction. Two officers fired their guns at Hislope but didn’t strike him, and Hislope then ran back into theresidence and exited again, this time pointing the gun at a third officer.
Hislope pointed his gun at the third officer several times and even chased him until another officer shot him. He was airlifted to the UK Medical Center for treatment.
The officers entered the home to check on Mary Gilmore after her husband was shot, and she was found dead in the residence with two gunshot wounds to her body.
Court documents suggest Timmy Hislope had been arrested multiple times in the past for incidents of alleged domestic violence involving Gilmore, in 2007 and 2010, and another woman in 1998.
Hislope was sentenced to 20 years for the murder charge and five years for each wanton endangerment charge, which would run concurrently (at the same time) for a total of 20 years. Hislope would be eligible for parole after 85 percent of his sentence is served, which is 17 years.
