Edmonton — In game one of the District 4 Legion tourney at Edmonton the Post 38 team of Somerset got great pitching and key hitting in their win over Danville 2-1.
Jordy Molen threw a complete game (9 innings in district play) 4-hitter with 9 strikeouts. The Danville run was unearned. Jeremy Toohey hit a home run in the 8th inning for the game-winner as the 38ers out hit Danville 7 to 4. Toohey had two hits as Corey Price had 3 hits including a double. Chase Hall banged out 2 hits including a 3rd inning RBI single to plate Aaron Hampton who reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Molen got two big double plays from the tandem of Erik Manning and Tyler Mayer and some nice plays from 3rd baseman Hampton. Hampton executed the last out of the game when he back-handed a shot down the third base line and threw wide to first but Price made the catch and tag.
The 38ers were to play Edmonton on Friday night as the tourney continues thru Saturday.
