Somerset —
Relatives and friends are asking for the public’s help in locating two local individuals who have been missing for several days.
Two pleas for help appeared on the Commonwealth Journal’s Facebook page over the Labor Day weekend.
Cassandra Casler posted a picture of and information about 32-year-old Ernie Gilliland Sunday evening. Casler said he was last seen around Gilliland Road near Pitman Creek wearing blue jeans, a T-shirt, a black hat and boots. Another Facebook poster, Angie Amadon, said Gilliland left her house around 6 p.m. Wednesday and drove his vehicle into Pitman Creek.
“We have not seen him since this happened,” Amadon said. “It is unlike him to just leave without telling someone.”
Gilliland apparently left his vehicle in the creek, where it was discovered Wednesday evening. Friends say he didn’t take any extra clothing with him.
Somerset Police Detective Lt. Shannon Smith said Gilliland’s disappearance could be due to a personal conflict — such as a domestic dispute.
“Be we are exploring all avenues on him,” Smith added. “We are concerned that he hasn’t been in contact with anyone, and we want to find him safe.”
Gilliland’s family members and law enforcement officials searched the area for Gilliland Monday afternoon, but, as of press time yesterday, there was no word whether he had been located.
On Monday, Ashley Sears posted a picture of and information about Margaret Woodall, 46, who left home August 24. Smith said Woodall has also been reported as missing, however, he believes she left home by choice.
“She left after a disagreement with her husband and took several personal belongings with her,” Smith said.
“The last time her son talked to her, she was in Ohio.”
Sears said Woodall was driving a silver 2004 Honda Accord with a license plate reading 277-FJY when she left her home.
Anyone with information about either of these individuals should call the Somerset Police Department at (606) 678-5176 or call 911.
Photos of Gilliland and Woodall can be seen by visiting www.facebook.com and searching for “Commonwealth Journal Somerset, Ky.”
