Somerset — Several local agencies will be feeling the affects of the first of six mandated state furlough days, which is scheduled for this Friday.
While the Pulaski County Clerk’s office will operate on normal business hours Friday, Pulaski County Clerk Ralph Troxtell said his office’s computer technical support staff, stationed in Frankfort, will operate at 50 percent, which may result in some difficulties should troubleshooting be required.
“We may have to wait,” he said, but he noted his office may operate throughout the day with no problems.
Sherry Tomlison, with the Pulaski County PVA Office, said her office will close down on Friday for the mandatory furlough day. That may also result in some complications on the county clerk side.
“The PVA (closing) could have some affect on customers,” Troxtell said. “But it’ll probably be minimal.”
Troxtell said his office was informed that they would have to close completely on Friday, until they received word last week that operations would continue normally.
Troxtell said he’s “very thankful,” that the office is staying open.
“We could not have done nothing,” he said.
The Pulaski County Circuit Clerk’s Office will operate as usual on Friday.
Assistant Pulaski County Attorney Dan Thompson said his office will also close down on Friday, and a spokesperson with Commonwealth’s Attorney Eddy Montgomery said that office will be closed on Friday as well.
All county and state offices will close for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 6.
